    July 2nd – Hurricane From the exotic isle of Dominica comes Chicago’s best reggae band, Hurricane. Musician Cleveland “Hurricane” Jean Jacques was performing as lead guitarist and vocalist for the island’s leading band at just fourteen. “Hurricane” continued to develop as a song writer, musical arranger, and entertainer. In 1986 he entered the arena of calypso and has since touched the hearts and lives of people all over the world.     July 9th – Brett Newski & the No Tomorrows Known as the first band ever to be kicked out of Wal-Mart for playing an illegal show, Brett Newski & the No Tomorrow has brought their 90's alternative sound to over 1200 shows on every continent except Antarctica. Most recently he's been supporting the Violent Femmes, PIXIES, and Chuck Ragan in the US. His music is a beautiful catharsis to a happier brain and sense of belonging. If you frequently find yourself stuck in your own head traffic, Brett Newski might help get you free. Newski's live shows are part rock n' roll, part stand up, and part therapy – in the end, the audience is won over.

The Organization Committee works to promote the Main Street program to stakeholders and the community, manages staff and volunteers, raises funds for activities and administration, and manages the program’s finances to carry out the mission of the organization for continued revitalization of Downtown. The Promotions Committee works to enhance the image of Downtown and encourages consumers, residents and investors to live, work, have fun, and invest in Downtown by raising the level of awareness through district-wide advertising, events, marketing and public relation campaigns. All are welcome to attend committee meetings!

  4. Live on the Lake Presents: Distant Stars

    July 16th – Distant Stars Jakey Thomas and Tai Drury have long been involved with the Northern Michigan music scene, as members of bands The Cookies and The Marsupials. For the past few years, they, along with Al Riesenbeck, Ian Burke and Andy Fettig, have been playing as the Distant Stars, an experimental rock and roll band with indie, pop, and psychedelic influences. As a result of a new sound for the band as they have begun to find their place working together and collaborating more on their music, a new sound has developed for the band propelling them further into the Michigan music scene and beyond.
